Anant Chaturdashi 2023

A Festival of Faith and Devotion

Anant Chaturdashi is a Hindu festival that falls on the fourteenth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada, which this year was on the 28th September. The festival is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe, who is also known as Anant, meaning endless. On this day, devotees worship Lord Vishnu in his form as Ananta, the divine serpent who supports the earth on his hoods. The festival is also associated with the immersion of Lord Ganesha idols, which marks the end of the ten-day-long Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

For us at Vishwaguru Deep Ashram Research Centre is the day when we remember beloved scholar Pandit Anant Sharma who was born on this Tithi in Vikram Samvat 1987. This year we commemorate his birth anniversary together with the first death anniversary.
Born 6.9.1930

Passed away 15.9.2022

The lecture was given by Dr Kailash Chaturvedi, a Sanskrit Scholar.
